The day has finally come. I am leaving Missouri, leaving this ground I have inhabited for much of my 23 years of existence, for the cool, chill Seattle. I cannot believe this is happening. Here's to the memories made, the loves given, and the life lived; and here's to new adventures and a different kind of life. Thank you everyone. 🖤🖤

I am found buried in cool glaciers, burning too bright in flashes of lightning, caressed by velvetine rose petals, their sharpened thorns like a second set of limbs. I am the fathomless ocean & the sun's warm rays upon waves. I choose the quiet coldness of a winter morning, but somehow, you see only sultry summer days, buzzing laughter & intoxicating smiles. I am your paradox.

Tomorrow may rain so I'll follow the sun.

Wow, it's been 23 years since I last entered the cosmic realm of earth. On the anniversary of my birth, I thought I'd share 23 things I've learned: 1. Everyone deserves love, from other people and also yourself. Accept nothing less. 2. Near death experiences provide some of the most visceral memories, right @trevorleecobb @bellacrowne ? 3. Poetry sets my soul on fire like few other things in this world and I'm constantly amazed. 4. A daily writing and art practice is integral to my existence. 5. I never knew the love I was capable of sharing with people outside of my family. Thanks, @madisonstehle for that one. 6. I am deeply empathetic and caring. 7. Emotions are valid and worthy of acknowledgement and celebration! 8. It's just money, I'll make more. 9. Conversations deep into the night are always preferable to sleep. 10. There are limits and it is important to recognize and respect them. 11. I need to listen to music nearly all of the time. 12. I am infatuated with nostalgia. 13. I completely enjoy connecting face-to-face and heart-to-heart with people from all walks of life. 14. Sisters are built in best friends for life. I love you, @katt_roseee 15. My parents are some of the most amazing, supportive, and kind people I have ever met. I would be nothing without them. @plegann 🖤 16. Traveling is a drug and I am utterly addicted. 17. Smiles transcend language and cultural boundaries every single time. 18. Never burn bridges. Opportunities often come from where you least expect them. 19. Dancing isn't terrible. 20. Wearing only black for the first 21 years of my life was incredibly limiting. Never again. 21. I am allowed to be utterly ridiculous and utterly authentic in every situation. Life is far too short to be anything less. 22. I am incredibly privileged. 23. Hate harms the soul. Thanks to all the souls out there in my life, in whatever capacity. I'm glad our paths have crossed, or even become interwoven. Take some time today to appreciate your existence. It's pretty rad!

One must remember to breathe and appreciate that which falls outside the normative of one's daily life. To be different is inherently brave and worthy of celebration and acceptance.

Sometimes I miss the transitory lifestyle. I find myself yearning for instability and uncertainty, desperately wishing I didn't know where I would end up that day or who I would meet along the way. But sometimes I am comfortable in the stability of everydayness. I find myself easing into the peace of knowing, surprising myself at the little joys of domestication. Roots are something I fear, but perhaps also something I crave. Maybe I'm growing weary, or maybe I'm just never satisfied. Regardless, it's almost time to dig up the roots again and plant them someplace new. Who knows how long they'll stay in the cool, Pacific soil.

What of magic, you say? Yes, what of moments so pure in simplicity and timing that you cannot help but fall backwards, staring intently at the sky, the gentle breeze blowing lacy flowers around your warm bodies. Yes, what of magic indeed.

I can't believe @katt_roseee is starting college. I didn't think I was going to like you much, pal, but here we are now. You're my best friend and my better half - truly the best sister I could ever hope to have. Beautiful, intelligent, kind, charismatic - a bright ray of sunshine. I am so proud of you. I love you. Best of luck on this new chapter of your life. I can't begin to imagine how you'll emerge on the other side!

Always looking for a beacon to my homeland 👽👽 And anyway, I love this tower. The Soviets were flabbergasted because the sun kept shining just right for the reflection to look like a cross (they'd removed the cross from the church at this time), and after many costly and inaffective attempts to rid of the ghastly sign, they declared, "IT'S A PLUS FOR COMMUNISIM!!!"

Should we go away to a land of fire & ice where the sun won't set?

Iceland is divided by the Mid-Atlantic Rift, the geographic space where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are moving away from one another. This is the only place in the world where this rift is above sea-level, and nowhere can you see the edges of both plates as clearly as in Þingvellir.

Open roads have always been something I think we all can relate to, Something we all yearn to experience, Hoping that one car in front of us Will finally turn off and we can Command the road as we see fit. Open roads seem to me, to be A sort of controlled freedom, A safety net of eventual destination, Leading us somewhere, Even if it is nowhere, For now.
