It's warm and sunny and the flowers are blooming and the spirit of community is growing and people and sharing and I'm doing my best to make each day count. Be kind, be gentle.

I'm becoming okay with silence again, allowing it to wrap its once suffocating arms around me, cradling my tired body into a dreamless slumber. I'm becoming okay with being alone again, learning to appreciate my own company, being patient and gentle when I'm not so kind to myself. I'm becoming okay with taking things slowly again, this fiery soul doesn't have to consume everything at once, a slow burn is longevity I've avoided too long. I'm becoming okay with this new me, again.

Feeling a little out of synch with the world / the rain came in angry torrents / felt like a strange movie I watched from my windowscreen / somehow / peaceful / calm

It's not every day you get a coveted @drury_grounds tshirt in the mail all the way from my old stomping grounds in Missouri at @druryuniversity 😍 Seattle quarantine prevented me from doing a photoshoot in the evergreens or with our blooming cherry blossoms, so my apartment will have to do! I'm constantly impressed with the entire Grounds Crew at Drury and especially loved getting to know the head, Joe Fearn, who is such a positive force on campus and in the community. Thanks for keeping DU so beautiful 🌲

I'm sipping Chianti Classico wine in my apartment as the sun dips lower, my thoughts drifting to Firenze, to the chaos and coldness this beautiful and terrible city is facing. I always thought this photo of Ponte Vecchio looked like Florence was crying, and I think it really is now. The world is very scary and the future is very uncertain and nothing is to be taken for granted. [Photo taken through a modified process of "light painting" with a slow shutter speed and intentional camera movement -- no editing!]

It is nice -- truly nice -- that people are finally noticing the small stuff that makes life worth living -- Sunlight filtering through curtains The breeze as it blows across the bay Fresh flowers swiped during a quick walk The realization that every sunset is a miracle and I hope I never stop believing that -- Remember these moments of quiet serendipity and sublimity. Let them guide you in the future, once this too passes.

What should have been a "let's finalize and get everything in order" day became a "cancel it all and hope for refunds" day as time draws closer to what was supposed to be a trip to New Zealand I booked on a major sale. New Zealand has mandated a 14-day quarantine upon landing for all visitors, effectively grounding my trip before it could begin. (I don't blame them.) So let's continue practicing social distancing to limit the spread of COVID-19 and let the world heal. I've been painting, writing poetry, weaving, crocheting, and doing myriad other art things in my own self-quarantine. It's been wild. Stay safe and healthy, friends 🖤

I walked a long way today, all the way to the water, Hozier's "Wasteland, Baby!" my soundtrack to a city in quiet distance from one another. How strange it is to be out in the world, but barely of it. Alone together. // Be still, my indelible friend You are unbreaking Though quaking Though crazy That's just wasteland, baby

It's becoming a big, scary, and cold world out there. Social distancing/ isolating/ quarantining feels very apocalyptic and really weighs heavily on my mind, my soul, my entire being. Tonight was a beautiful escape from the realities of a pandemic -- we became friends celebrating youth and life for a little bit again and it was so uplifting. Laughter is best experienced in the company of others. I've been reflecting on what it means to be experiencing -- being wholly present for -- this current series of events, and I think there's a balance to everything and I'm still finding mine, but that's the true beauty of life. Things are uncertain, but that means there's so much potential for goodness. So I'm holding on to a positive outlook and relying on my connections with others to keep me grounded.

Chinatown is deserted. Feels pretty apocalyptic on the eve COVID-19 was declared a pandemic. Wild times we live in.
